Lawyers argument before the Massachusetts Committee on Fisheries and Game pleading for the abolition of weirs, pounds, traps, etc., from Buzzards Bay. More particularly from the six towns – Falmouth, Bourne, Wareham, Marion, Mattapoisett and Fairhaven – that border on it. His argument was that local nets and traps prevent fish from reaching open waters where the commercial fisheries depend on them. In the course of his argument much detail about the inshore fisheries of the day is presented. I just can’t help suspecting that something else was afoot – eliminating small-time trappers? Cleaning up waterfront property for eventual development? Let me know if you get to the bottom of it. Bound in original printed wrappers, chipped. Front wrap and folding map detached but present. Map and text in very good condition.
